Hole in the wall but I love this place! This is the best Chinese place in the area!

China 1 is across the street from my office. Everyone in my office probably gets them for lunch around once a week. It's a good, solid, "middle of a strip mall" chinese place. The lunch specials are cheap ($6) and come w/ a huge portion of your entree, as well as shrimp fried rice (w/ a ton of shrimp) and an egg roll. My favorite there is the sesame chicken (made extra spicy by request)

For the amount of food you get for the cost, I think it's a good deal. They seemed to change their chicken from before.

Good food, we enjoy ordering from here. We have not had any issues yet with our orders. It isn't the best food around, but does taste good, and they are always nice. I would surely recommend them to others.

I went to this place for mothers day, carryout. Their food was great! Portions were good for price. The potstickers were very good. Comes with some sauce, tasty with the potstickers. Their kung pao chicken was good. Their combination fried rice is the best i had. Good price, great food :)

Just got lunch from here. The quantity was surprisingly large. I got the general tso's chicken and quite enjoyed it. It is more of a take out place since they have very limited seating. Since it is very close to my place, I will probably be going here often.

Lunch specials for $5.70 are huge! China 1 is the definition of a hole in the wall. Shady lookimg characters hanging outside in their cards and crazy drivers in the parking lot. I've tried the Sesame Chicken (surprisingly spicy), Orange Chicken (very spicy!) General Tso's Chicken (full of veggies, my fav of the bunch, spicy) and their eggrolls. All three flavors tasted markedly similar even though they were all what I would consider vastly different items. Each lunch special was marked as spicy so I can't say they didn't warn me on that! Their eggrolls are not as big as some other Chinese places but their lunch specials are HUGE in size. The girls working inside were very nice, the price isn't bad, portions are large and the food is pretty good. I'll be back to China 1 fo' sho'!

From the outside, this place looks kinda shady. I've never been inside, but we have ordered in for delivery a few times. Their lunch specials are super cheap, and the portions are HUGE. I happen to love their crab rangoons - they are ginormous and taste pretty dang good. Sometimes the food is a little on the luke warm side when it is delivered. They don't have anything that is out of the ordinary here. It is your typical Americanized Chinese restaurant that is good if you want a fast, cheap, not-so-good for you meal. Not bad, not amazing.

Food is pretty good and reasonably priced. The dumplings are solid. The Mongolian Beef was actually spicy, which was nice for a change. The Kung Pao Chicken was equally good. I would definitely recommend China 1 to anyone looking for some decent Chinese food for a reasonable price. Delivery was spot on also.

After reading a review where diners found a cockroach in their food (there's a photo posted of it!) and others commenting on the dirtiness of the restaurant, I regret not reading the reviews prior to ordering delivery. Now, for our personal experience. The delivery driver was friendly. The restaurant forgot to deliver the wonton soup. No hoisin sauce for the Mu Shu Pork. They delivered the fried chicken pieces, but no sweet and sour sauce for the sweet and sour chicken. Fried foods very greasy, obviously not drained before packaging. The crab Rangoon was just cream cheese in fried wonton, no seasoning, no crab, no spring onions, nothing. Everything was very bland. The beef almond ding and combination rice was OK. It's very overpriced for the low quality food. Overall, unimpressed. There are way too many good (and clean) Chinese restaurants to ever revisit this one.

Good food, fast delivery, never make mistakes on your order, will accommodate special requests. Never skimp on portions. Best Chinese joint in the area. Going here is a no brainier.

I forgot my lunch and did not want to go out so I checked out grubhub and liked the recommendations I saw for China 1 so I thought I would try it out. I was not disappointed. The food arrives hot! Portions are a good size and the food is tasty. You get a lot of food for your money and the food is so good. There was a little mishap the first time I ordered but they have more than made up for the error and I have not has any issues since.

Do not buy the orange chicken. It is all soggy breading. It is horrible. AVOID.

I would give this a 5 star but the only reason why I'm not is because we ordered two xl large and large sesame chicken and was given only 3 sweet sour packets otherwise this place is amazing the food was amazing and when they said xl large they ment it!! If we lived closer we would come back all the time!!!!

Egg foo young is amazing! I hope they don't change that. My only complaint is in the beef and broccoli or chicken and broccoli dishes they don't have just that. Last time I ordered it they put in onion and peppers etc. When I asked for just the meat and broccoli (how the dish is supposed to be) there was a small charge for that since its considered "extra". Otherwise I highly recommend this place. I love their deal after $20 you get free egg rolls and after $30 is free crab rangoons. Everyone is friendly as well. Food is made quickly and delivered quickly.

Decent food, reasonable price, fast delivery. If you need a quick meal for a good price you will love this. You get a large portion for the money, and you get it quickly. The orange chicken is good, but I am not in love with the shrimp fried rice which comes with the meals.

Great egg foo yung....lots of meat and shrimp, give a hardy portion too, rice is average

No flavor, No taste, no spice! Disappointed for sure! But I guess you get what you pay for. Cheap prices for nasty tasting food! I ordered the magnolian beef extra spicy, tasted so plain all I rated were the big chunks of onion and green bell pepper, I order the pot stickers nothing but dough and tasted raw, and the filling again needed something cuz it didn't taste like anything good. I also got the Singapore noodles ( only comes in one size super extra) YUCK! I've had them before at other places and this place is gross! Oh and there egg drop soup yuck yuck!!! You get two free egg rolls if you order more than $20, they could've kept them and gave them to some one else, soggy and smelly! And honestly these people are so rude when they take order that should've been a sign to not order shizzzzz!

Food is 3 out if 5, but value and speed of delivery was 5 out of 5! Got food within a half hour and was very fresh. In MN we call this fast food chinese cause there are like 40 chinese restaurants that serve the same exact chinese recipes with exact ingredients that hade exact same "cheap chinese" flavor made it seem very mcdonalds-like. But man does it taste it great when you get in that greasy, generic, amazingly overly flavorful chinese food mood.

good food reasonable price, just alot of oil they use in the rice and they charge for every little thing including hot sause!

Lunch special is so good! Egg foo young is something I never tried from other Chinese restaurant, it is very special and good. People in that place is very nice and patient.

China 1 #2 was pretty good. The prices were affordable, the accommodations looked clean, and the portions were appropriate. This wasn't the "OMG I'm so full I could die" type of affordable, but the General Tso's and Beef broccoli were both good. The small rice container that was given was well-packed, so each was easy enough to split and the meal made for 2 normal people sized meals on a small size order. Prices looked typically $5/small $9/large. I had no problems communicating a reasonably complex order which can be a problem sometimes, though it'd be really nice if they had 2 things: 1) Chow fun / wide rice noodles 2) An online menu I've heard a couple of complaints about the neighborhood, but it fronts to Algonquin road and seems safe-enough, though there were some strange looking folk gathering a few doors down.

Once again, this restaurant has exceeded my fried rice and rangoon expectations. I LOVE their chicken fried rice and crab rangoons!! JEEZ! Just had something new last nite with my usuals listed above: my quasi BF person ordered their shrimp with lobster sauce. Wasn't really feeling the thought of it initially but one bite of the juicy flavorful shrimp and my mind was transformed. That was enough for me though - I dont think I'd order it again on my own. Not sure what that means for the restaurant but cant I just be happy with my usual fare??

This place was yet another restaurant tucked into a nondescript strip mall. The interior was a little sketchy and snug but served its purpose. It had a broad menu and when asked about their favorites they pointed us towards the Sesame Chicken, Moo Shu Pork, General Tso's and Seafood Delight. It was a sad and tragic moment for me. After spending a year in China I was hoping for the Mandarin host to point me to dishes that could be found in the mainland. Instead we were instantaneously shown Americanized-Chinese dishes -- those that are filled to the brim with proteins coated in deep fried dough and slathered with gravy, and lest we forget the 6 slivers of carrots, the 1" by 1" square of green pepper, and 2 dying sprigs of broccoli that we fought over. We ended up ordering a Large order of General Tso's for approximately $10.45 Post tax. When in Rome. The description above does the dish justice. The staff was very nice, and our food was ready in less than 10 minutes. Overall it was pretty good, yet not great. The spice level was like a slap in the face which was delightful after our tragic jaunt into The Indian Bistro later that night (see other review). Andy states that "it is the spiciest General Tso's that [I have] ever eaten". Especially since those little "spicy chili peppers" that they place next to food dishes are typically misnomers. We will not be returning, especially when The Wonton Gourmet is a stones throw away. We gives this place a 2.5/5 because honestly, when you think of Chinese take-out this is the place you should envision. And if you're intrigued, their Lunch and Dinner specials sound like fantastic deals.

I live in the neighborhood and we actually have about 6 chinese food places very close. There's Penang's, China Bowl, Chef Ping's, Absolutely Chinese and a Panda Express all within a mile from my house. This is hands-down the best one of them all. Looks can be deceiving and driving by you might think this place is a dump, I know I do even being a regular customer. It's situated in a kind of run-down strip mall between a liquor store and a mexican food restaurant in a very unattractive area of Rolling Meadows. When you walk in their dining room there is a couple garage sale chairs with some banquet tables. So they could do a little better for themselves image-wise, which is why I'm only giving them 4 stars. But their food is delicious, they use plenty of vegetables in their dishes, and you can't beat the price either. They get your food ready fast, it's always hot and the portions are very generous. My favorite is the Chicken or Beef Kung Pao.

China 1 has lightning fast delivery and cheap but good Chinese food. They're at the top of my list when I'm feeling lazy and want takeout, and have never messed up an order even though my wife tends to go crazy with custom dishes. I wish the menu had a few more vegetarian options but overall one of my favorite local takeout places. One of the delivery guys asked me if my dog was a wolf, which is pretty cool too.

I eat here somewhat regularly, and the food is decent, but not great. The biggest issue is it is a dump, and completely filthy. Not a great neighborhood, but for sure no place I would take my family. For a quick in and to go meal, it's fine, but please, how about just a little soap and water in the place?? It is gross, and in my opinion they do nothing to help their cause. Oh yea, lastly, try asking for extra soy sauce; you'd think your asking for a fifty dollar bill. You get one packet as the norm, when you ask for one more, they roll their eyes, huff, and just not happy about having to part with their precious soy sauce.

I've picked up food here quite a number of times, and I am really happy with the quality and quantity of food you get for the prices they charge. Nothing out of the ordinary or exceptional about the food it's just a Chinese carry out place, good for times when you are hungry cant shell out lots of $ or tired of eating regular fast food. I've also noticed that food has been mostly consistent which I look out a lot.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
